Meet Our Head Chef, Charles Westbrook!
Originally from Yorkshire, Charles has many fond memories of creating homemade, fresh meals from a very young age – that’s when his love for cooking began! At 19, Charles was offered his first kitchen job at The Savoy Hotel in London. Following this he started to climb the ladder in hospitality and worked at some of the best restaurants and hotels in Europe, including the Mandarin Oriental in London and a luxurious hotel in Switzerland. 25 years later, Charles has chosen to head back to his family roots and leave the city life behind him and has joined us here at The Clive Arms.
Charles loves to use seasonal and local ingredients as much as possible and can head over to our Walled Garden to see what fruit and vegetables are available each week. Charles plans to spend time with the Ludlow Farmshop butchery team to see what speciality dishes he can create with fresh meat from the estate in the coming months.
Charles has exciting plans for the coming months and is looking to run some foodie events such as a burger night and a homemade pie night. He is also busy planning our next seasonal afternoon tea that will begin in the Summer!
If Charles isn’t in the kitchen, you will find him with family & friends in the local area or reading a recipe book.
